Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, you will learn how to find the x and y intercepts of a line to graph it. This method is particularly useful when the equation is not solved for y. To find the x intercept, simply let y equals 0 and solve for x. To find the y intercept, let x equals 0 and solve for y. Once you have these two points, plot them and use a straight edge to draw the line. You can then check your work by plugging in other values for x and y to make sure they satisfy the equation of the line.

Lesson Description:

Covers how to find the x and y intercepts of a line, and how to plot those points to graph the line. This is part 7 of a series of videos about graphing lines.

This is an excellent explanation of the method of graphing lines that are in standard form by finding / plotting the x-intercept and y-intercept and then drawing the line through them. This very useful method of graphing can be confusing, and this is a must-watch video to learn this method.
