Meets NCTM Standards:
Features a TI Calculator
Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, you will learn how to solve nonlinear equations for any unknown parameter, input or output using various techniques, including technology-based methods such as Solver in calculator. You'll see how to solve for an input given an output and how to use hand solution techniques to obtain formulas that can be used to solve similar problems in the future. Solver is shown to be the fastest and easiest solution technique.

Lesson Description:

Be able to solve the same three equations for any unknown parameter, input, or output given values for all the rest by at least one technique that uses technology (e.g. SOLVER in the calculator).

This lesson shows how to find the value of an unknown parameter for a non-linear model equation (in this case, a logistic model), and then how to solve for an input given an output. The Equation Solver on a TI graphing calculator is used in this lesson.
