Meets NCTM Standards:
Features a TI Calculator
Lesson Summary:

In this lesson, you will learn how to solve linear equations symbolically, numerically, and graphically. You will discover how to solve literal linear equations with no values for the parameters, and learn how to use formulas to solve for the value of a parameter if you know the other parameters, the input, and the output. Additionally, you will be introduced to Solver, a tool in your calculator that can solve literal equations and help you find the value of the missing parameter if you know the other parameters, input, and output.

Lesson Description:

Solve a linear equation symbolically (literal equation), numerically, graphically.

This lesson will show you three different ways of solving linear equations. You may already know how to solve an equation numerically and graphically, but you will also learn in this lesson how to solve an equation symbolically. This is called a literal equation, and you will simply solve for one of the symbols in an equation where there are no (or very few) numbers.
