Introduction to writing inequalities and determining if they are true or false.

  • What are inequalities?
  • What do <, >, <=, and >= mean?
  • Is -4 > -5?
  • Is 4 > 5?
  • Is -3 2/7 > -3 3/10?
  • Is -5 <= 5?
  • Is -8 >= -7?
  • Is 11 <= 11?
  • How do you translate word statements into inequalities?
  • How do you write seven is less than ten as an inequality?
  • How would you write seven less than ten as a math statement?
This lesson is an introduction to the inequality symbols, what they mean, and how to use a number line to determine inequality. Several examples are shown and a number line is used to show that certain inequalities are true or false. This is a great way to learn about inequality.
