Writing sum and difference math expressions as word statements.

  • How do you write the difference of -3 and 2 in words?
  • How do you write a math expression in words?
  • How do you translate a math expression with three numbers into a word statement?
This video is the opposite of writing word statements in math. Sum and difference math expressions are translated into word statements. This can be tricky for some students, and many different problems are shown. Near the end of the video, some problems such as x + y = 5 are translated into the sum of x and y is 5.
