Part 5 of how to solve algebraic linear absolute value equations. Explains algebraically and graphically.
- How do you solve and check absolute value equations?
- How do you set up an absolute value problem and write two equations?
- Why are there two solutions to absolute value problems?
- How do you get the second answer to an absolute value equation?
- How do you solve equations where there is an absolute value expression on both sides of an equation?
- What happens if there are absolute values on both sides of an equation?
- What are the two equations you can write if |stuff| = |junk|?
- How do you write two equations, solve, and check |9 - 4x| = |2x - 3|?
- How do you write two equations, solve, and check |2n + 5| = |2n - 1|?
- When does an absolute value equation only have one answer?
- When does an absolute value equation have no solution?
- What is a summary for solving absolute value equations?
This video goes through the most complicated of all absolute value equation cases -- when there is an absolute value expression on both sides of the equation. The problems done are explained completely and very clearly. This is a great tutorial on more complicated absolute value equations.
I have enjoyed learning from YourMathGal until the use of 'stuff' and junk for the Absolute Value equations.... just doesn't help the thinking/learning process... using it once or twice for fun is okay - but I'd like to see -in addition- to the 'fun' words samples of what I'd see in a textbook. This would help me organize my thinking...
